The battle until break

These last couple weeks have been hectic and I can't wait until Thanksgiving Break.  Tomorrow is my last surgery day, which is nice.  However I am not looking forward to another crazy long day... hopefully I will get home before 10pm this time.  Then Friday I have my Equine Medicine exam, which is over a lot of material... I have been slowly working through it.   Monday I have a Small Animal Med exam and Tuesday is a Clinical Pharmacology Exam.  Then to finish off the week I have a Surgery Exam on Friday... Ugh.... I am so tired of sitting at my desk!!  Okay, so Im done complaining :)  The semester is finishing up and overall it has been my favorite yet.  After Thanksgiving Break I will have two weeks of classes and then a week of Finals to end it.

I did pretty well on my last round of tests, 98% on Agriculture Med, 96% on Surgery, and a 100% on Pharmacology.  I am surprised at how well I have been doing in pharm, last year it was my worst class.  Its nice to have a large buffer in that class though as the cumulative final will be pretty challenging.

No new bunny or dog news as of now... haven't had much time to spend with them.  I do get the dogs to agility practice twice a week.  Ella has been really bored though, I think she is looking forward to her vacation as well.  Solstice the ML is due today.  The other babies are growing up and doing well... eating a ton!  The Marten kids are really annoying there poor mothers, I imagine I will go ahead and wean them this weekend.

Spay Day and Convention Results!

My Surgery went very well!  It was really fun to actually get to work with a live animal as solo surgeon.  Everything went according to plan and my dog recovered without incident.  This week I am in charge of anesthesia and next week I will be assistant surgeon.

I took my Agriculture animal exam today.  I have an equine exam next friday and then three exams the following week.  All this combined with my surgery/patient care is really exhausting.  I am really looking forward to Thanksgiving break.... I plan to sleep... a lot...

Convention Results!!
Twitch won 2nd place BSB! Awesome!  I am so proud of how well Twitch places consistently! Parker did not place in the large SJD class, which was disappointing.  Im not sure at this point how Lyric did. Sarah and my Silver Martens did well too!  Arson was 3rd place black Sr. buck and Pyro was 2nd place blue Sr. doe!!  We are really happy with our first National showing, especially since both the rabbits we sent were not a prime age/condition.  We will try and plan out breedings better for next time we make it to convention so that we have some around 6 months old.

Exciting Day Tomorrow!!

Tomorrow is my first surgery (spay)!!  I am super excited!

I got my cardio pharm test back and I got 100% woohoo!

I separated Cupid/Twitch babies tonight as both the boys had cuts on there heads.  I believe the doe is beating them up!  What a bully~  So they all have there own cages now.  The boys look pretty nice, but the doe is looking very promising!  I am hoping she will be my next big winner.

Three of my lops and two of the Silver Martens are headed to CA for convention!  They show on Monday I believe.  Scott said that Twitch and Lyric coats are starting to slip, so I hope they hold onto them long enough for the show.  He said Parker is looking great, but is an ounce overweight, so he's cutting out the oat supplement.  I think the stress of travel should cause her to lose as well, so here's hoping she makes weight.  If she does I think she should place, there are 65ish in her class, Im hoping for top 10 (top 5?? :) )

Life's about to get crazy

The upcoming 5 weeks until Thanksgiving break are going to be crazy!  Tomorrow I have an 8 hour ICU shift :(  I am starting my month long surgery section on Monday, so I will be spending a lot of time at school.  Tuesday I have three exams (pharmacology, comparative reproductive physiology, and practical surgical skills ) and start communications from 3-5 (yuk!).  Then I have a surgery exam on Friday.  This weekend is basically just going to be me studying... fun stuff.

A few of my rabbits are going to the Lewiston shows tomorrow with Emily Brown.  My best ones are at Scotts, but the ones I am sending are decent and should do well.

Envy had seven babies on the 11th.  Grace didnt take again.  I'm not sure if I am going to rebreed her right away.  I weaned Cupids kids.  They are looking pretty nice.

Kennewick Results

The first show was judged by Cliff Dick.  He is a great judge and fun!  Matty won his class for a leg, Parker was raved over and won BOV, and Twitch won BOB.  Coley placed 4th in a large class, but he decided to completely blow his coat/condition.  He lost the fur in his crown and it made his head look pretty sad!  I decided to pull him from Nationals and send Lyric who is in great condition.  Flare took 2nd in a large class of nice BSDs.  Tricia and Lyric took 4th and 5th of 11.

The second show wasn't as great.  Matty did win his class for a leg.  Twitch won his class as well for another leg, but was beaten out by the BJB.  Everbody else was in the middle except for Flare who was last! sad!

Twitch, Parker, and Lyric are off to Scotts for the next three weeks and then will be on there way to San Diego for convention!

I may have a ride for a couple of my lops (Flare, Tricia, Matty, maybe Heather) to go to Lewiston. We'll see!

End of week 7, wow!

I am amazed at how fast this semester is going by, I am almost half way.   I have been really enjoying this years classes, so much better than last year!  Im not as excited to finish as I have been in the past.  I am currently working on my fourth year clinic schedule.  I am excited to get to fourth year and actually be working as a doctor (well supervised!).  However, this also is a bit scary!!  The nice part of fourth year is I get to spend some time at clinics outside of Pullman.  I will probably go back to the west side of the state for that.  I think I have around 6 weeks, so Ill be able to do more with my animals during that time too (agility! bunny shows!).  I also am going to put some of my vacation weeks around ARBA Nationals, so hopefully that works out and I'll get to go!

I got my ag animal test back already (still dont have surgery or equine!).  I missed one, and it was a stupid mistake..ugh... I probably should have read back over my test since I finished so quickly... but I just wasn't in the mood..haha  I ended up with a 95%!  So far I have done very well this semester and havent had any terrible exams.  I have gotten in the 90's for every exam except one.... the kidney test! That was my fault too as I just didn't study enough.. so so boring.

Pharmacology has actually been one of my favorite classes this semester.  Last year I despised it and truthfully was just good enough to pass "whew".  However this year I am doing very well.  I love the professors!  That really makes all the difference.  But I am sad :(  We just started renal and resp section and have a new teacher who makes me want to jab my eyes out with my pen... So hopefully I dont self destruct the next few weeks.

Got the bunnies ready for Nationals and the show tomorrow.  I went through and clipped nails and typed them out.  I'm not all that impressed, but hopefully its just me being ultra picky... I mean.. Twitch did win show last weekend so he couldnt have changed that much!

Thats all for now!  Getting up at 3am for the show tomorrow... yuk!
